Weekend in Taipei Full Movie Review:
This film feels like a cocktail of genres part martial arts, part John Wick-style action, part romance, and even part “family drama.” In trying to juggle so many tones, it never quite finds its footing. With enough material here for at least four different films, the outcome is competent but uneven. The so-called “family ending” may leave you puzzled, though it still manages to bring a smile, reminding you that at its core, this is meant to be an action entertainer.
The story follows a DEA agent who returns to Taipei after thirteen long years to confront the drug lord responsible for shattering his past. What he doesn’t realise is that the woman he once loved is now the drug lord’s wife — and that he has a son he never even knew existed. The setup is undeniably engaging, and the drama adds weight to the high-octane fights. Whether that combination is enough to win you over, however, is something only a viewing can decide.
